Some tips and tricks

These were the lowest intensity modified LEDs I could find for a 6 inch, 11W, 2700K screen. Note, however, that you will most likely need a dimmer. because they are still too bright for us. We converted 26 lamps in about 3 hours. I set the family dinner table by gluing a stick to assembly line style spacers. They can be slightly painful. The easiest way was to attach the pad and then peel off all the backing paper and gently tape around the outer perimeter of the pad, they stretch quite easily so attach them around the entire perimeter with ease. , you may have one left when you finish the round. It takes a little getting used to. We found out there were at least 3 different types of glasses in the house - so be prepared. Some had slots for the springs, and some had mounts that protruded in some way. Usually, the ket-style cans' bra mounts were curved to allow the old paneling to fit; I had to bend them in place. The ground wire has a closed loop type plug. The easiest way to attach it for most of our cans was to use a pair of wire cutters (or rosettes) to cut off the end of the circle, creating a U-shaped connector that we could tuck under the fender. Nut to adjust the depth of the can. Once the glass had screws available, we simply removed the screw and reinserted it with the ground wire attached. The 4-way junction box in the kitchen required 2 additional dimmer switches. This along with the 12 gauge wire made things very tight and my attempt to force it in resulted in the bolt hole for the derailleur loosening. Luckily, here at Revain you can get a little gizmo called the G-Clip. It attaches to the box and holds the screw. Luckily, since ripping out the box and rewiring (including banging out part of the wall, redoing the drywall, and smearing it with mud) would be quite labor intensive. Be calm and try to arrange the wires as best you can - especially with old plastic boxes that seem brittle. I broke one of the lamps and couldn't fix it. Small black rings on the posts hold everything together. The light fell on the wooden floor and the rings burst. It wasn't possible to return them - I think you could try gluing them, but I just ordered some extra bulbs. Also note that the springs may pop out from under the small tabs that hold them to the bracket. To put it on, you have to bend the slip ring a little - it's easiest to do this with two people. Overall I am satisfied with these lamps. I'm hoping to save money on my electric bills and also improve the attic waterproofing. I might revisit each mount and lube the o-ring around the trim ring just to make sure I have a good airtight seal. I only wish these LEDs had a warmer and dimmer light.
