There are many similar readers but I only chose this one because SD cards are inserted the right way round. I'm glad I did it because it has been totally reliable for me. I use it a few times a week to transfer around 30GB of camera video from an SD card to my laptop. I insert the card into the reader, connect the reader to a powered USB 3 hub, and then move files. I get about 45 MB/s, which is much faster than the built-in card readers on my other computers. I don't know if it matters, but I always click the "safely remove hardware" icon to eject the card reader before unplugging it. Using this process has been flawless for me.
