We heard about this set when two of my kids who love baseball were playing at the campground with the older boys from the neighborhood. They're heavier than wiffle balls and go a lot further (they also sting enough to leave a little stinging "raspberry" if you smack the string, but nothing serious). The racquet is also thicker and stronger, which helps with the speed at which the ball leaves the racquet. My kids love hitting things up in the garden with this set. This allows them to practice without adult supervision to avoid breaking our/neighbours' windows. This is the perfect set to keep the kids busy this summer or as a gift. For reference, my boys are 8 and 9 years old and the older boys they played with were 15-16 years old. This is a fun and safe way to work on serves and hand-eye coordination/swing timing. The lightning balls themselves are fluorescent neon green, which is useful when trying to find them in your yard (or at the edge of a forest/bush).
