This blender is fine, we bought it in 2016. It's a little less noisy with the "jug" screen on it, but not really enough to justify buying a new mixer. It's okay to make smoothies, and if that's all you're doing, you're probably fine. In terms of power, it cannot be compared to Vitamix, Blendtec or Ninja. I was disappointed with the many recipes he can't handle. Peanut butter, forget it, my coffee grinder did a much better job. Ice cream and dates often break badly, leaving large chunks. We bought Blendtec from a Treasure Truck (similar price range) a few days ago and I'm very happy with the result, smoothies included. The worst thing about this blender (I should probably give it 2 stars for that) is that after prolonged use the ingredients seep through the bottom and stick to the sides of the jar in the compartment under the blade. Cleanup is impossible. I've been wanting to buy a new can but can only find one in Hamilton Beach for $90 which is 2/3 the price of a new unit once delivered. I decided to use a different mixer. Luckily for Hamilton Beach, they also own Blendtec.
