Let me start by saying that after setting this thing at the correct distance and target my dogs barking was reduced by about 90% after putting it on the automatic for the first week Mode #6 had set. The unit is not storm proof so I would need some protection if I were to leave as I think most would use it. At 2 weeks my dog was barking normally. Dead battery. The connector inside the block fell apart when I removed the 9V. Maybe it's a one-time thing, but it should be more reliable considering how much it eats. In short, it worked well, but not for long. You must actively monitor the battery and change it carefully. I just re-read the instructions and they say that the automatic setting adjusts both frequency and sensitivity, so I think the battery life should be about typical for efficient settings, but it might be better to set it manually. I'll fix with a 9V DC power supply that I found here for less than $4.
