Review on πŸ“± Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T590NZAAXAR, 10.5 Inch Tablet, Gray by Jermaine Rhodes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good Android tablet for viewing multimedia.

Pros: - Large wide screen perfect for watching videos. Squarer screens like the iPad, Pixel Slate, or even the Tab S3 take up too much screen real estate - speakers on either side. I would have preferred front-firing stereo speakers like the Pixel Slate, but that's the next best thing. The speakers themselves sound pretty good, especially with Dolby Atmos enabled. Good value for money if you can get it on sale. I bought it during the Cyber Monday Revain sale for just $300 after tax. IMO it's worth the price but no more. Cons: - Relatively low resolution. I came with a Nexus 9 with a 2K screen and the Tab A is a significantly lower resolution. Although it's not that noticeable from a distance. Still, I want it to have a screen of at least 2K. - Lack of smart cover on a magnet. Although I don't travel anymore, it would be nice if there was a smart magnetic lid that turns into a stand. All cases and cases I've seen are bulky and either cover the front of the tablet or have a plastic backing that snaps onto the tablet, both of which are very difficult to remove if necessary. - Samsung user interface. I haven't used a non-Google device since 2012's Nexus 6P and Nexus 7 and most recently the Pixel 2 XL and Nexus 9. Although Samsung's user interface has gotten better over the years, it's still noticeable. I know not everyone likes pure Android, but I like it. As long as manufacturers insist on forcing their Android vision on consumers, this will continue to be a scam and keep me from buying their devices. I bought the Tab A mainly because I have no other choice. TL; DR - If you can get it for less than $300, the Tab A 10.5 is a good Android tablet for media consumption.
