If you're shopping for a DVR, you know there's a lot to choose from. I reviewed 30 devices from 15 companies and refined my criteria over time. I've decided I need two cameras (front and rear) with the ability to use a high capacity (128) memory card. It was nice to have a memory card (regardless of size) and a screen included. They all had decent resolution and camera angles. The only other criteria were decent reviews and a target price. This device has risen to the top because it ticks all of my boxes. What I like: It arrived quickly, was well packaged, had everything it needed, had good instructions for use, and was pretty easy to install for a hobbyist like me. Having all the controls on the touchscreen proved to be a much bigger benefit than I thought (wasn't part of my selection criteria) - it's nice not having to search for buttons to press. The recordings are clear, and I was surprised that they are not "peppy" at all (due to bad roads). Which gave them 4 instead of 5: I don't think the battery holds a charge at all - after charging my laptop all night it quickly dropped to almost 0 only when looking through the configuration options. And while connected to a laptop, you can only watch videos on the laptop - you can't access the controls on the touchscreen. What features do I want to add? Corresponds to "docking station". Removed the lock from the car in the parking lot. This means (1) manually turning off, (2) turning off the rear camera, (3) unplugging the power cord, and (4) removing from the suction cup. And when I get back to the car, I turn around and reinstall it. Wouldn't it be great to just screw it on and have the wires already there? I've only been using it for a week, so some of the feedback (on this and other devices) on issues encountered after prolonged use hasn't bitten me yet. Of these, most seemed to be caused by overheating (I remove them from the device to reduce the likelihood of this issue) or the inability to reformat the memory card (often recommended in the manual). I hope I don't have to update this review negatively, but I'm "very satisfied". :)
