Mechanically, this unit works similarly to the Panasonic rotary unit that I have used for many years. Better built from top to bottom, this device runs quietly and smoothly. In addition to the better performance, another important difference lies in the cleaning. If the top black cover is removed, this manufacturer recommends NOT removing the inner blade for cleaning, which I believe contributed to the premature dulling of the blades on previous models. Now simply remove the black cap with the remaining blades inside and rinse the black cap under running water. The light is a nice touch, but I haven't found it that useful yet. This device is slightly more expensive than comparable devices, but in my opinion it is worth it.
