I found this article perfect. Connecting my Mac to an ultrawide monitor is now as convenient as a magnetic click. A few things to note. You'll need something to hold the cable in place if you're using an official Apple external monitor adapter. Otherwise the cable will move too much / the Apple adapter cable is not long enough to unscrew the magnetic adapter. Why didn't Apple create a universal USB-C magnetic adapter for external displays with a longer cable? Who the hell knows. That apple. They are great and suck at the same time. The main advantage of this particular adapter is to support an external display. Not all magnetic adapters are the same. If all you need is a magnetic power supply, there are plenty to choose from in smaller sizes. If you ALSO need power for the external display, you need an adapter that supports data transfer, not just power (like this one), which unfortunately takes up a lot of space. As you can see from the photos, the thing is branded. I would normally deduct a star for this because I was clearly trying to buy it without the branding and so the pictures don't match. but given the overwhelming amount of negative reviews on here, I feel compelled to leave it at 5 to offset other people's unfounded negative opinions. The thing works. After all, it does what I bought it for.
