It annoyed me at first to have the monitor turn on, but sometimes I wanted to turn it off, then turn it back on, and so on again and again. I emailed support about this. They called me back less than 24 hours later and suggested using the power cord through the bottom USB-C port as my Android phone was plugged into the top USB-C port and it just wasn't getting enough power for the monitor. . It worked and so far so good. This is a pretty cool monitor and looks sturdy and well made. The case is somewhat protective, but not the most reliable stand.
