They're only good if you only use them (1) when connected directly to the Switch, or ( 2) when using any of them. alone in multiplayer mode. The ergonomic shape at the bottom of the controller compared to the Joy-Cons that come with the system is nice when plugged directly into the sides of the device. However, please see note #2 in the product listing "May not fit original handle". It certainly doesn't match the original Joy-Con grip, so I won't be using them often unless I'm traveling. Assuming you've used this as a portable gaming system, you'll likely have just as much fun with it as you did with the original Joy-Cons. Since you can't connect to the Joy-Con Grip, I didn't check the battery as it basically needs to be plugged into the system. While I'm assuming the video in the product listing shows you can hold each controller in your hand, I assume some people can play like this, so you might not need a grip. I'm not a serious gamer so all I can say is that the buttons and joystick look just as good as my original Joy-Cons. The included clip-on wrist strap pieces, at least on my copy, required a bit more force to slide over the controller so you might need some pressure. They also feel like a quality product.
