Get Accurate Miter Cuts With GemRed Digital Miter Saw Protractor MP01 Review

I have been using and protractor tool similar to this which does not have digital read-outs and have had to actually lay it up against my saw blade to set my cut angle. But with this digital read-out version, I can simply set my saw bed to the angle designated on the Gemred protractor and make my cut. It is precise and consistent, so I will be using this going forward on my DIY projects. There are many uses to which I can put it.

I was trying to purchase a tool that would give me an accurate angle measurement for measuring some trim in my house. However, as far as I can tell, this tool needs to be re-calibrated at every use. There is no "pre-calculated" mode. Instead, I have to find a flat surface, calibrate it, then use it every time I turn it on. As the title said, maybe I bought the wrong tool, but with that calibration step requirement, this isn't going to work for me.

This gauge works as you would expect. Use it to find the angle, record the reading and then set your miter saw's gauge accordingly. It worked well and was easy to read. It is plastic, but it is durable and would survive a drop or two and a little job-site abuse.The only tricky part is that you have to properly select the "mode" that you need. I used this protractor to find the correct angle of my stairs, then created a jig to complete my horizontal stair balusters. The tool was easy to use and pretty accurate. I like the digital display. Very useful tool.

This is a handy little tool. It's also made entirely of plastic, though it works OK, at least initially. I suspect plastic isn't a problem, though I was a little put off by realizing that Towalmark makes a similar tool with arms of stainless steel and ruler measurements on the arms for $7 less than this protractor. The Towalmark lacks this protractor's modes, only measuring angle, not miter. But that's not really much of a loss since miter is only angle divided by two.Anyway, it works well.

I already own a manual non digital miter saw protractor and was fed up with it’s complete inaccuracy in the readout. Big thick white painted lines that go in ten degree increments with small hash marks supposedly representing minute degrees. It’s impossible to read; "Is that 31 degrees?
