Please check your. Mine had a slight nod to it.

Disappointed. The ruler bowed slightly to him. It's metal and it has to be absolutely true. Discuss whether to return and order a replacement. Update: I've emailed Johnson Level and Tool and they're sending me a free, error-free replacement. That's good customer service.

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • Almost never

Excellent quality and value. Made in USA

Bought to replace an old Johnson that was rusty, just hung in the garage and the square was plastic. I had no idea what the upgrade was. Stainless steel ruler, zinc square and built-in hardened scriber. Especially since it's made in the USA. What a pleasant surprise.

Suitable for woodworking, not for metalworking.

Overall a good product. The main issue I had was that they used a deburring machine and sanded the ends to the point where the first two lines weren't visible. Overall this is a good combination angle for woodworking but not for fine metalworking. If you're into metalwork, spend the extra money and go for the Starrett Combination Square. I bought this $10 Johnson as a backup of my $100 Starrett combo place, the day/night difference compares them.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Hard to say

Mine wasn't square. This is pretty easy to fix by grinding down the tabs on the working slot to make it square, but I just bought another one from a big store for about the same price that was perfectly square, right on the money. This is imperial blue. I didn't think I would have to spend time fixing a brand new tool. Also, being square is the whole reason for it, if not square then useless.

Great tool at a great price!

This combination square costs less than $7! Wonderful! I love these things, I use them all the time! I use it for marking and cutting the 90's and 45's, and also use it as a scriber and ruler. You can't have enough of these combination squares! And this one has a stainless steel rod that won't rust, with notches and measuring lines marked, and a metal guide with a bubble level. I don't see how you can get any better and for less than $7 with shipping it's a great deal!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Received broken tool

I bought this as a backup of my old Stanley which became hard to read from frequent use. For some reason the new Johnson combination angle refuses to lock when the set screw is tightened. Because of this, moving the handle up and down the ruler isn't as smooth as it should be. I tried polishing the ruler and oiling the locking mechanism but no improvement. It's too late to return it, so I'm just stuck with a broken Johnson combination square.

Good tool Great company

I recently bought a tool, it is square and very good quality. Unfortunately, my device had a small problem: the ruler did not hold firmly due to the lock nut and spring combination. I contacted the company and they immediately issued an RMA and shipping receipt and promptly returned a brand new unit. I would buy from them again anytime. The fact that they honor their warranty and supply up to date quality tools makes them a valued A+ brand!

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Reliability

Maybe better, but better than any other metric version of Revain.

I really needed the metric version of this tool and initially I could only find these horrible green ones in Chinese packaging. They were sharp-edged and damaged everywhere. Compared to them, this one is golden. It still feels a bit rough around the edges, but the quality is much better and the finish is smooth. There are still occasional small nicks, but they're machined and don't feel sharp. The locking mechanism is very cheap. It really lowers the quality of this tool. The ruler also has…

  • Confident

  • Nothing here
