Nice and sturdy, elegant-looking, but assembly is rugged

This is a nice, relatively sturdy wooden step ladder. I like that it has a safety bar at the top and tread to put on the bottom to prevent sliding. The only reason I say "relatively” sturdy is because some of the wood did chip when I was assembling it.As a warning, the assembly is a nightmare. It arrives as a box full of bars and slats. There are three types of bolts and an Allen key included with some shoddy instructions. The instruction sheet is merely diagrams indicating which piece coordinates with which letter and what to attach it to. It wouldn’t be a problem, except that some of the pieces are slanted and you don’t know which way to put them. So after I’d assembled the top and bottom, they didn’t fit together. I ended up using my own hardware to attach them and it worked fine. So be prepared to possibly improvise.Other than assembly, this is a very nice step ladder. It’s sturdier and more elegant-looking than the plastic ones you see more often. It also offers an extra level of safety with the bars all around the top to help prevent falls.
