Bought two of these and replaced two lamps in the living room from old incandescent lamps with three incandescent lamps. We now use dimmable CFLs and they definitely work. Installation was easy enough, but for the price, these outlets feel a little "cheap." They tend to fit together a little crookedly (once connected), so it takes some patience to get it right. Also, dimmable compact fluorescent bulbs require you to turn on to almost full brightness to get the bulb to glow, then slowly dim it down to the level you want, but don't go too far, like going down 30-40%. brightness, the lamp turns off completely. Maybe I'm just not a fan of dimmable CFLs, but if you're going to use them I would recommend incandescent or LED as a better option than dimmable CFLs.
