Review on πŸ“· BlackVue DR590X-1CH Full HD Wi-Fi Dashcam with Parking Mode Support and 32GB microSD Card by Brandon Peters

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Less than I expected, recommended, glare

I looked at several Viofos and they messed up my files so much I decided to switch brands entirely. Went with Blackvue hoping the good reputation would do me good. The first impression showed that it is smaller than I thought. I don't know why it looks so big in the photos. plastic container. I drive a 2020 Outback with Eyesight so I'm always concerned about where to put it on my windshield so it doesn't interfere with the system. The microSD card is placed at the end of the cylinder after removing the round plastic cover that also houses the Wi-Fi button. Blackvue warns you not to use their SD card or you will void your warranty. I placed my Blackvue just behind the rear camera and slightly to the right. There were no problems with vision. The camera uses a DC plug (?). Not sure what the correct term is, but it's still not Micro, Mini or Type-C which meant I had to use a new cable since I had a Micro USB. . The Blackvue app is not bad at all, after syncing with the system it just downloads a 1 minute clip of your choice. The files are in .mp4 format and there is also a Blackvue app for Windows. When you turn on the device, the camera turns on after a few seconds, but when it does, a voice comes from the camera announcing "Blackvue" before "normal recording" is displayed. When it turns off, it announces that as well. This is useful for me because with my Viofo I sometimes wondered if it was on (it was picky). This ensures that I can hear it without looking at it. Pros: While it hasn't messed up the files yet, it works as intended, I took a few videos of it, and it's not an eyesore. Good image quality in ideal daytime conditions. Cons: Videos take a while to fetch from Wi-Fi, so I prefer to just eject the SD card, which is doable but a bit painful. It dazzles when the sun or light is shining. Watch the video above. The picture is not as good as I had hoped, Viofo had it better in my opinion.
