I use it to attach to my pontoon boat's plastic windshield so I can navigate with the Navionics app on my iPhone 8 in a Tech 21 case Spring-loaded phone clip, then additional stuff like a rubber band pulled over each corner. The actual screw clamp opens wide enough to fit a handlebar and secure enough to easily attach a thin plastic windshield. The ball joint is also tightened with another plastic nut. Having used this item a few times on the lake I would recommend it to anyone who wants to securely mount their phone on a motorcycle or boat.
