You have to hold a cigarette in the sniffer for a long time before it goes out. This does not work if more than 1 person is smoking. Eventually the cigarette butts caught fire because the cigarette wasn't completely extinguished and she started smoking quite heavily. There should be a place where you can put out a cigarette and not put it in the snuff. The backlight works well, but I often leave a cigarette in the snuff hole for a long time so as not to wait for it to go out and discharge the light. It serves its purpose, but I think there are much better options out there, such as ones where you can just toss stocks and not have to worry about it.
