Only slightly better than the first Fisher C1

I have a Sanyo Fisher C1 which I have been using for 2 years now and I love it very much. I was excited about the idea of getting an HD version and bought one for Christmas this year. Humbug! The video might be wider on this model than on the C1, but I haven't seen if it's better. No one will believe this video is really HD unless they have never seen HD before. Pictures could be good. Didn't get that far until I put it back in the box to return. It's a camcorder, and it just doesn't make better video than the much smaller, slimmer, cheaper two-year-old model it's meant to replace. In fact, I was very surprised at how much bigger and chunkier this device is than previous models. I noticed that it works great with an 8GB Transmedia SD card. I was worried about that. If you really need a pocket camcorder and are willing to spend that kind of money, get a 6 megapixel Sanyo standard definition camera. At least they would be great photos. If you're looking to save money, you can find a C1 or any of the other early models for sale somewhere. They're smaller, sexier, and just as good, as anyone who's not a pro can tell. I bought mine on Ebay two years ago for $200. Maybe if I was a pro and used it in ideal conditions. Maybe I've seen better results. But let's be honest, this is not a professional camera. This is an everyday camera and should be able to handle anything an amateur can throw at it. It just doesn't look any better than the SD models in typical conditions.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Thin
