🐏 Chrome Ram's Head Hood Ornament - Grand General 48052 Review

Heavy, well finished and shiny chrome ram's head. I installed it professionally and he made a thin gasket between the ram and the hood of the truck.

Bought for our Dodge truck and just what we need to fool the truck and make it easier to assess the curb. We miss them on our cars and this one is very nice with good detailing and looks really good on the truck.

I was suspicious of the reviews but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. We're using it to replace the OEM RAM head on my wife's 1983 Ramcharger as we don't want to ruin the original by dimming it. This one is ready to go. Next installation!

This worked in a pinch but it's not a direct replacement at all, it's smaller than the original and you have to drill different holes and they don't fully cover the existing holes. I also had an issue with the bolts trying to unscrew them but they didn't seem strong enough to really tighten them like they should. This is slightly higher than a cheap fake.

Great product, very high quality for the money. However, before buying, check the position of the hood latch. I have a 2015 Ram so the hood latch is right where I want the decoration. Also take a long drill. The supplied hardware is also not suitable for some models. I had to go to an auto parts store to buy some pan head screws to get up from the bottom. This is not the fault of the manufacturer or the product. This is a great piece, well made and looks original. Still gets 5 stars in my book.

While it looks good at first, it doesn't even come close to matching the original Dodge hood ornament. The decoration itself does not consist of two parts like the original. There is a way to install it on the hood, but the clearance is not the same. The distance between the attachment points isn't even perpendicular to each other at each end! My original ram head was stolen from my truck so I ordered it as a replacement. It is a one piece unit with a shiny chrome finish. The original was in two parts and had a low gloss, almost pueter. The mounting holes do not line up exactly, so the original has to be replaced and re-drilled. The general appearance after installation looks good, but it is slightly different from the original. I'm pretty happy with the replacement, but I'd be a little happier if people just left my truck alone!
