died 6 months later. The replacement device died within 7 months.

I bought this because I thought it would last longer than a standard dehumidifier at a higher price. Not so. He died within 6 months. After weeks of waiting, a replacement device was sent. However, I was billed $1,200(!) to ship a replacement unit, followed by a 3 month manufacturer support nightmare that was only resolved through the intervention of my attorney. The new block died after 7 months with the same error message. It looks like there is a systemic issue with this product as both devices failed after 5-7 months with the same error and several customers reported this error in their online Revain reviews here. The same error ('low refrigerant') has received a surprising number of complaints just a few months into using the product, as the serial numbers on both of my units indicate that there may be fewer than 10,000 of this product model in circulation. . Apparently, the product cannot be repaired by charging refrigerant, and under no circumstances should the refrigerant be discharged in such a short time: fatal refrigerant leaks seem to occur. I'm currently trying to get an extended warranty through Asurion - let's see what happens.
