Strong enough. Worked well for the price. By the end of the project that led me to buy this, enough grease and oil got on the corner dial that it became less legible. I don't know exactly what the dial is made of. but it looks like maybe paper based plastic? Be that as it may, after exposure to oil, the marking on the dial became translucent in several places.
