This (AM-223) is a very short tripod, not a full size tripod, not something you use for family photos, not something you use to sit on the ground and take fireworks or sunset photos . Spring . if you don't want to bend over a lot. However, I am SOOO glad someone finally built a RELIABLE little tripod! I love hiking, backpacking, and photographing nature - flowers, animals, waterfalls, etc. My full-size tripods (Benro, Manfrotto, etc.) have great stability. Total pain to rock these guys in some of the places I go. I dont know. I have several aluminum and carbon tripods from similar manufacturers. They are good but still a bit bulky/long and I never stretch my legs further than maybe a segment as they continue to stretch and push the limit of reasonable stability IMHO. And I need to redo them and/or remove the center column so they can go lower. Then there are those desktop versions that are compact and light but underpowered even from decent brands. And heads on those. can we even call these "headsβ? I want to cry. That's where this guy comes in. Although it is significantly more compact than my travel tripods, but more stable due to the larger leg diameter and a stronger overall construction. Finally a short/small/compact tripod that is rock solid. 8 collar mount, of course 105F2.8 mic, even my 135mmF2DF. d) no problem. For mirrorless shots, I shoot SONY and use the MFT when I'm bright; for those it's more than reliable, no problem with everything I have for those including fast telephoto lenses. Works with my dozens of different brands (some cheap or nameless) Arca records - holds them all securely. The ball head is hard and smooth (not RRS or Kirk or anything, but on par with similar brands/prices). No splay, even with heavy installation and in a vertical position. The legs stretch out so it goes as low as any other tripod, that I have and is very stable with "flat feet". These are the steps) and it's holding up and working great. Don't worry about quality, durability or functionality. Fantastic compact tripod. If you need to get up to a seated/standing position, use a standard carbon or aluminum travel tripod - there are plenty of these, including the larger models in this range. If you don't need a lot of height AND want a compact size, BUY THIS! I've been looking/waiting for this guy for 30 years! use a standard carbon or aluminum travel tripod - there are plenty of these including the larger models in this range.
