The lamp has never worked. I was late with the return but now I'm over the deadline. I don't know if that particular manufacturer is to blame or what, but you'll have to order another one. It will be sent back if it doesn't work.

Ordered two NY Gifts (a spare lamp) for a Bell and Howell floor lamp. The first one used didn't catch fire so I was glad to have a spare. This didn't work either. I compared the expired B&H and My Gift from all sides. My gift was slightly smaller in the pin and plug area. I thought everything was standard, like light bulbs. Returned the item not knowing if it was damaged or because of the fit. Have not reordered from MY GIFT. I then ordered a replacement specifically for Bell & Howell lamps.

I went with a slightly more expensive bulb because I thought it was a little better quality than a $6 bulb. I went with this one too, based in part on a review that mentioned it worked in a dimmer bulb. I only have a switch between low and high setting. But as soon as I turned on the lamp, the light flashed, then hissed and went out. I couldn't get it to light up again. At $8.75 it's hardly worth the shipping cost to get it back, but I would if the shipping cost was reasonable.

This non-brand option was cheaper than other replacement bulbs for my Verilux lamp. I don't know if this is a difference between Verilux models, but this lamp did not match my Verilux floor lamp bought 5 years ago. I read reviews of people who bought this replacement bulb only to find that the new bulb didn't work, probably because of the ballast. Having been using our floor lamp for over a year I was sure it was just a bulb that needed replacing. Boy was I disappointed when I replaced the lightbulb and nothing. Unfortunately when I received the Spectrum desk reading lamp the bulb broke and I lost the installation guide. Finding a new lightbulb wasn't difficult.
