I read reviews of people who bought this replacement bulb only to find that the new bulb didn't work, probably because of the ballast. Having been using our floor lamp for over a year I was sure it was just a bulb that needed replacing. Boy was I disappointed when I replaced the lightbulb and nothing. We don't have the ability to change the ballast so this bulb is dead now. I would recommend if your spectral light has stopped working and you paid less than $100 for it to get a new bulb. I don't know why this is, but it seems that when certain bulbs burn out, they burn out the entire system as well. Maybe they're causing a "short circuit". But what do I know? I had the same experience with these beautiful touch lamps. You need to replace the lightbulb when the lightbulb dies. Even if they are connected to surge protectors. Too bad.
