This collar was one of the best decisions we made for our 7 month old Doberman Pinscher! He's a large dog weighing almost 75 pounds and it was becoming increasingly difficult to get him to listen to us. So the collar has arrived! Although it's a little tricky to set up, once we figured it out, it worked great! You need to make sure it's a snug fit (not too tight) and take the time to read and practice with all the instructions. We don't always use the shock button as even the vibration gets his attention. He's even learned to recognize what the remote control is capable of, and just looking at it gets his attention. You need to make sure you follow your commands consistently and use the same approach in training even when the collar is off. I would not recommend leaving it on all the time as it is too much and I truly believe that a dog should learn from patience and love, not fear. I have 2 horses and he barks and terrorizes them when it's us. take him outside. It was awful and he almost pulled my hand out of the joint on the leash! The horses will then go nuts and only create a huge dangerous scene. But now I can even get him near the horses, tell him not to. And he does! He also collected horse manure and other items that we would have had to fight to get out of our mouths, but no more! I'm finally working from home and it's become impossible to talk to clients on the phone if I had one. in his box. Although we try to keep it as quiet as possible, sometimes I can't get it out. He howled and cried and barked louder than I thought a dog could. It was like listening to someone constantly driving their nails across a blackboard! I even considered giving him a new home, thinking I would end up losing my job and my sanity! But now he knows that "No" means "No" and stop bad behavior! In front of the collar we said "no" and he just cried louder! It was unbearable! If we weren't home and left him in a box, he'd start sobbing as soon as he heard us walking down the drive. We entered the house and all hell broke loose from his howling and our trying to figure out how to arrange it. No longer! He is such a sweet dog and definitely has some separation anxiety, but this collar has helped us all find happier homes. I sincerely believe this saved my sanity and even prevented me from returning to his house. What a great product!
