When you need them, they do their job!
Usually you want to switch from coax to ethernet these days, but I ran a few extra ethernet cables when I added some 4K HD-CVI cameras last year. If they are in place, I can use these cables to add a few more 4K HD-CVI cameras before making the full transition to IP cameras. My initial experience with IP cameras has breathed new life into my coaxial cameras and DVRs, there are no standards yet - the IP camera supplier blames the NVR and the NVR seller blames the 'third party camera'.
