Review on Bose UB-20 Series 2 Black Wall/Ceiling Bracket for Enhanced SEO by Kyle Hood

Bad design: Accoustimass 6 Series V (for houses with electrical installation)

Bose got this bracket wrong! The instructions are terrible. First, let me say that I connect my Bose AM6 Series V to a pre-wired home setup that has speaker wires already routed through the main room. The seller never mentioned that (a) Bose Acoustimass cables run from the amp to the bass module and (b) that Bose uses special cables. This immediately caused some problems. So I needed a wiring harness in the first place. Revain sells this: https://www.amazon.com/Bose-Speaker-Lifestyle-Acoustimass-36743/dp/B000Q2ZKSO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514915565&sr=8-1&keywords=bose+wiring+harness. Since the speakers themselves have a special connector I needed something that adapts the wiring to Bose connectors, I found it here: https://www.amazon.com/Bose-Ac-2-Adapters-5-Pack- Black/ dp/B01B21IQL0/ref=pd_sim_23_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01B21IQL0&pd_rd_r=FGPABJFAJBKAZ1TYD7E2&pd_rd_w=0Eubk&pd_rd_wg=ibxoy&psc=1&refRID=FGPABJFAJBKAZ1TYD7E2 Ich dachte, das wäre alles, was ich brauchte, und ich war dumm, weil ich dachte, es wäre so einfach. The Bose UB-20 Series II and the Accoustimass 6 Series V have some serious problems. The screws you see in the picture that attach to the bracket that attaches to the speaker are too long. This will prevent you from mounting the AM6 to a fully bolted mount. If you don't fully tighten the screw, the speaker will shake. Also, the speaker cable to the Bose connectors I listed is slightly longer in the back and prevents the speaker from attaching to the bracket. This would be remedied if Bose cut a hole for the port on the bottom of the bracket. The connection hole is at the top. This causes you to have to route the wire in a Z-shape, resulting in a tight crimp. So here is what I need to make it work properly. First go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy some M5x.80 25mm screws to replace the screw you see in the picture above. Make sure the screw head is bigger than Bose. This ensures a tight fit. This allows you to attach the strap to the mount so that it doesn't wobble or protrude enough that the strap doesn't close on the AM6 speaker. Second, don't buy the speaker jack adapters I listed above from Revain. You need to cut the wire that came with the Bose speaker and use a connector on that wire. The plugs above are too long to work with the clamp and the Bose plug works great if you are using wing nut wire connectors. INVEST IN THE TOOLS TO DO IT! You don't want to ruin Bose cables, so use wire strippers. Once you make these few tweaks, you can really make this mount work. The bracket would work great if it had (1) a speaker input or bracket adapter and (2) the right screw that doesn't get in the way of properly mounting the AM6. The whole process was exhausting but manageable. Why Bose designed this mount that way is beyond me.
