Works the same as those sold for 10x the price.

Bit is bit, chip is chip. I have had several of these "OBD keys" and lost, borrowed or lost them. Although this key was the cheapest I could find at the time, it works just as well as any other. In fact, it's easier than most to connect from my phone. I've used a tablet with it before, but in my experience the Android OBD apps available for free on the Play Store work just as well on a vanilla phone as they do on a tablet, and the phone is way smaller and smaller. Some of the free apps actually have hints (THAT WORKS!) that are triggered when the car doesn't reset "protected errors" that we brutes shouldn't reset. But be prepared to drive the car up to 200 miles and park, start and open and close the doors many times to call the computer in the car to avoid the government-controlled smog computers after the restart to provide measurements. A few calendar days between the restart and the smog test can also be important. In my experience, one generally cannot expect the fault to be reset the night before and the car picked up the next day to smoke successfully. As far as "tech support" goes, it's safe to say there is no tech support for this particular model BUT the online support adverts for pretty much all other OBD2 ELM327 units seem to apply.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • No machine
