Review on Fujifilm Finepix E510 Digital Optical by Lori Lopez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little regular camera

This is my second Fuji branded camera - the menu system is very easy to use. I bought this camera because I wanted an inexpensive ($170 total) standard camera that was small but functional. I'll tell you the pros and cons. ADVANTAGES: 1 - 28mm wide angle is fantastic! Try to find another camera with the same wide angle but not DLSR and not too expensive. This feature alone makes this camera worthy of being your travel camera for landscape photography.2 - Fast start and relatively quick capture (not necessarily a few frames per second, but your first general shot will be quick).3 - Battery operated AA type. You will never have a problem with a battery and the battery life is very good. xD card in 4 format. Forget the previous review said xD cards are the way to go. This is the latest technology, extremely fast, reliable and durable. So you're paying $10 more than the equivalent SD or compact flash card - it's worth it! 5 is a good size, this camera is small but feels good and is heavy. It feels secure in your hand and fits comfortably in your pocket. The lens is hidden quickly and securely in the housing. CONS: 1 - Powered by only 2 AA batteries, unfortunately having AA batteries is great, but having only 2 means it takes a little longer than I would like to charge the flash. Not bad, but noticeable. 2-3.2x optical zoom. This is the bare minimum these days and one would expect Fuji to do better, around 5x or at least 4x. 3-5.2 MP, not bad, but not that good anymore either. Image quality is excellent though, so most photos are fine. 4 - weak flash, not very good for more than 6-8 feet max. A bit disappointing, but you still don't get much Flash Juice with only 2 AA. 5-2 inch LCD, clarity is impressive but 2 inch is no longer the standard 2.5 inch minimum. GENERAL: All in all a great camera, especially if you're just looking for a general travel camera that's great for hiking, trekking, etc. The only cons that keep me from giving it a 5 is the slow flash repetition and short flash distance. Also, my CONS are mostly passed off as real, and my PROs are very satisfactory for a camera of this price and value.
