I bought several strands of these lanterns 3 months ago and hung 4 of them on a tree. They were beautiful and I was happy with them. Now, just 3 months later, they're ALL dying at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME! The solar panels that control the lights seem fine. The lights themselves didn't last. At 6am that's about 540 hours of total usage before they ALL died (AT THE SAME TIME)! In addition, there are almost perfect weather conditions. Average day and night temperatures in the 60's and 70's. Nothing cold or hot. This is a surprisingly short lifespan for LED lamps. Attention buyers! Updated: 3/26/19. I disassembled the filaments of light to determine why they were failing, and this is what I found out. Solar panel/control box is OK. The LEDs themselves are fine, the wiring is fine BUT the bulbs are NOT FULLY WATERPROOF. The heat shrink tubing is placed on the base of the lamp, including the wiring to each bulb. Unfortunately, this doesn't cover the end where the wires enter. So if the lantern is hung upside down, rainwater can run down the wires inside the shrink tubing and corrode the LED connectors. This creates rust, which leads to failure because once one bulb burns out, they all burn out. And there the light bulbs are rigidly connected with hidden terminals. Good luck finding a rusty/faulty lightbulb(s). I suggest putting silicone on the end of the lamp cord to insulate it from the elements if you want these lights to last a long time. But a lot of work!
