I bought this 4TB drive to use with my MacBook Pro. I connect it directly USB-C to USB-C, no hub. The first one stopped working after a couple of months - the computer recognized it but couldn't do anything with it. Mac Disk Utility couldn't "fix" it, and the Disk Utility app that came with the drive didn't do anything. So I have something else. He worked longer, maybe 9 months. The computer doesn't recognize that it's connected, although Mac Disk Utility sees it and says everything is fine. Disk Utility that came with the drive doesn't see anything as connected. On a positive note, during the 9 month window that it was working, my motherboard burned out and all data was lost. The external drive perfectly restored everything with Time Machine. But two drives and two failures is a deal breaker. At least Western Digital will replace them for free - if I pay for one-way shipping.
