It might get long but please read to the end. This is a starter kit, but it doesn't include everything you need for a lasting manicure. Dehydrator, primer and base coat are MANDATORY. I think that's why a lot of people have problems. I sanded the nail plate to remove the shine, then used a Gelish Ph Bond Dehydrator and a Gellen Gel Polish Base Coat (there was no primer as there was none). Now the product itself is very thick and sticky. I find it easier to manipulate the product in the double mold, using the spatula end of the tool and just the brush on the end to smooth out the product. I don't care about the included slip solution either. This makes a mess and leaves a white residue. I prefer 91% isopropyl alcohol. I work A LOT with my hands. I'm a line chef (I wear gloves when I work so my nails don't touch the food, don't worry) and I wash dishes at home a lot. I picked up a cuticle nail 15 days later while gardening and picking up gravel with my hand, but it was still pretty tight; I still had to pry it off to remove it (not recommended). These nails lasted 16 days before needing to be filled. Today is day 20 and they are still going strong. I did a test run on my left thumb a week before the rest and it's still holding tight. I think all the negative reviews are from those who didn't properly prepare the nail bed. I'm by no means a professional; I only do my nails as a hobby. This was my first time working with polygel and they lasted three weeks (without the peeling one). There's definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, applying this polygel is super easy. The only downside for me is the size of the dual shapes. It was hard to get the right size but I have smaller fingers so it probably won't be an issue for everyone.
