My AT&T U-verse cable box is in the living room and is connected to the TV. I use a U-verse wireless cable box that plugs into my TV in the kitchen where there is no cable outlet. I bought this unit hoping to get rid of the wifi cable box in the kitchen and save some money in the long run. I connected the IOGear transmitter between the cable box and the TV using the built-in splitter. . The receiver was in the kitchen and connected to my TV. The transmitter and receiver are about 20 feet apart with a wall and closet in between. The first time I hooked everything up I got good picture and sound on my kitchen TV. Unfortunately, this didn't last long. I often lost the picture and sound. Often the kitchen TV was dark and quiet while the blue LEDs on both the transmitter and receiver were solid blue, indicating the units were in sync. This often happened when the kitchen TV was turned off and on again. Usually turning the transmitter off and on has solved this problem. The IR blaster was not working properly at all. Often the IR signal was not transmitted to the cable box, or there was often a long delay of a few seconds between pressing a button on the remote control in the kitchen and registering on the cable during transmission. Crate. Also, using IR often resulted in the disappearance of the image and sound, which returned after a few seconds. All of this could be explained by a bad signal between transmitter and receiver. However, if I lost sound or picture on the kitchen TV, it also disappeared on the living room TV, which was connected to the transmitter via an internal splitter via HDMI. This leads me to suspect that there is an issue with the splitter feature of the IOGear transmitter that is not related to the strength of the wireless signal.
