Be careful with your hair 4C

Advantages:1. This is a bigger bottle than I thought. I can say it will last at least a few months even if I use it daily.2. Smells good. It is unscented but has a pleasant light scent that quickly dissipates.3. I can apply this to my hair after washing and nothing else and get instant softness. No other leave-in products need to be applied. So it's great for emergency washing.4. Doesn't work well on wet hair. I just sprayed on the top, sides and back, fluffed it up with my fingers and let it dry. It is good for refreshing hair that dries out between washes/conditioners.6. Eliminates the "crunch" that gels etc. leave behind. (I like to use curling gel, but it makes my hair stiff! It makes it very soft.) Cons: 1. It affects the definition of curls. Using it on damp hair before styling (twisting, etc.) leaves my hair too soft and hydrated for the natural pattern to show through. 2. It loosens the curls a little. When I washed my hair again and didn't apply it, my curls were back but looser. (However, I've also used henna dye recently, that might be part of it.) 3. I think using this color over time - even without the use of heat - will really weaken the natural curl pattern. In my opinion this would be a great product for non-African/Caucasian hair without heat or styling. It's a nice misty refreshment for taming runaways and ends. Not sure if this works the same for perm or pressed afro hair as it might reverse the effect. So for me it is doubtful. I like the softness but I don't want to ruin the curl pattern. I can't find any information on whether regular or long-term use causes it. At the same time I love it when I have to wash and go. Otherwise, I'd have to apply some moisturizing products to keep my hair from feeling rough or crunchy. I think I need to find something that softens them well but doesn't affect the pattern of the afro curl.

Pros
  • It's fine!
Cons
  • Something is wrong
