I have many Chinese made gauges and most of them fit very well within the +/- 0.002 tolerances I need. I have a small batch of parts where I needed to easily measure the slot width, so I figured this would work as a cheap and easy way. I figured it shouldn't be too hard to make a decent bolt and nut with consistent tolerances. I have got it wrong. The lead screw is probably not concentric because the screw is 1/2 turn tight and 1/2 turn loose. The ratchet tip is totally useless and there is no way to get a constant reading as there is no way to get constant tension on the micrometer. Going straight back to Revain and will continue to use my pearl pickups for now.
