Review on ๐Ÿงฝ QEP 70005Q-3VP XL Grouting Super Sponge: 3-Pack for Effective Cleaning, Yellow by Julie Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not just for grouting anymore. These are STRONG, DURABLE, fairly dense yet soft sponges for hands

Compared to most cellulose sponges, they have much smaller pores and are not as absorbent. quite dense but soft sponges for hands. They are sold as grout sponges. However, if manufacturers decided to cut up a few smaller towels and sell them as kitchen sponges, anyone making and selling cellulose kitchen sponges would go broke. I bet they would make BIG sponge mops too if cut into this shape. I bought these when I was frustrated looking for CHEAP cellulose kitchen sponges about 6 months ago with little success. I didn't want a lifetime supply and was screwed by the small pack of sponges they sell at Revain. Okay, I'm cheap, and yes they would be cheaper per unit if I bought a BOX of sponges, but who does that if they don't work in the sponge measuring business? Our old cellulose sponges never seemed to last long. over a month or 2 at most before they started falling apart although they weren't usually used every day. In addition, they dried out and became hard, and then did not absorb immediately. I just wanted old, NOT layered, NOT reticulated, NOT nicely shaped, NOT exotic smelling sponges - just the kind that used to be pretty much everywhere. So when they came up on a search I checked their size and found that if I was VERY careful I could cut 6 standard size kitchen sponges out of one of them by first cutting the sponge into 2 layers and if I did that I may have 18 (a bit unevenly shaped) and IF they lasted about as long as the old ones it would be a year or more before I would have to start looking for sponges again. When they arrived I cut the first of 3 packs of sponges into sixths. The original sponge I put in the kitchen (1/6th of the whole) is still in the kitchen - no signs of deterioration. 3 cellulose sponges have already decomposed in the same period of time with the same use. I worked harder on this single sponge than I used to on cellulose sponges, mainly to see how well it holds up and what the material is. it works. I put one in every bathroom and they are almost indistinguishable from unused ones. (My wife wasn't/wasn't as passionate about this project as I was - not the first time I've been involved with one of my projects.) Ed. For a year and a half none of the cut sponges have worn out from use at the sink - they just don't die!
