My daughter has been riding in Tuff Rider boots for years. When she outgrows her current pair, we will order another. We were very happy with the comfort and durability of this brand. This time she wanted to switch from her regular laces to zips so she could boot up faster after the zip. These boots do not look, feel or smell like real leather. They didn't fit as they were quite large at the ankle (very skinny 11 year old girl wearing size 11 boots so it's not really the boots fault). We reordered our regular lace-up boots at twice the price and were able to compare them directly. I'm pretty sure it's faux leather and not the "real leather" advertised in the description. We bought synthetics when she was little and they're not necessarily bad and a lot cheaper, but we wouldn't order them if we knew it wasn't actually leather.
