I've seen several reviews saying this case is too small for the Otterbox Defender and they're right. However, this is the ideal size for the Commuter series. A bit tight at first (but not too tight) and now after a few months of use it's secure but not at all difficult to remove or replace. The steel belt clip is excellent, twice the price, unlike other mall kiosk holders I've bought for years that dangle and break too easily. This one holds the phone securely, closes securely, stays closed and stays close to you so it doesn't stick out like many others without a metal clip (it still has two leather loops for horizontal stability). So NO for Defender, but DEFINITELY YES for Commuter or any other case of the same size.
