Received this camera a few days ago and am very happy with it! I played around with it to get used to it. Thank heaven for digital photography and rechargeable batteries - I don't have to worry about wasting money on film and batteries. I took a few shots around the area to get used to it and find it really easy to use. The camera has many features but is also very easy to use for simple shooting. The camera seems to go from off to fully on (booting) in about a second. Focusing also seems very quick, although I think it will be slower in low light. Full instructions are included with the camera on DVD. The instructions are tricky, but I think new users just need to take their time and gradually familiarize themselves with the different options. Some people mention that the flash needs to be popped up to work, while many cameras let the flash pop up automatically when needed. I don't see that as a problem. When I want to use the flash, I pop it up and the camera only uses it when needed. When I don't need the flash at all, I leave it off and the camera doesn't use it. The screen is very bright and clear outdoors in bright sunlight, which can be an issue on many similar cameras. This camera has about five different display brightness settings and I set it to the brightest. Even when the sun shone directly onto the screen over my shoulder, I could see the image clearly. For many years I have used larger and more sophisticated digital cameras. Before that I used everything from 1/2 frame 35mm to 8x10 view cameras in film photography for many years. I'm very happy with this little camera and I think it's the perfect choice for me. It has a lot of different options when I want to use them, but it's also a great point and shoot camera with a very long zoom lens. Due to its small size, this little gem is really easy to transport without having to carry around large and heavy camera bags. I bought this bright red camera to satisfy my Walter Mitty side. I really think that anyone looking for a big, small and versatile digital camera for pretty much any type of photography will be very happy with this camera. Just give yourself and the camera a break and don't expect to be familiar with all aspects of the camera in a few minutes. This applies to every digital camera. Enjoy!
