Review on Innocn 13.3-Inch Portable USB-C OLED Monitor - Editing Friendly with 60Hz and 1MS Refresh Rate for Mac and PC - Model 13K1F by Earl Ford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice screen! Works with Steam deck. But the mounting magnets were incorrectly mounted at the factory.

Numerous reviews have complained about the delicacy of the attachment and here's why Innocn mounted the magnets upside down on either side so they repel each other instead of connecting firmly in the middle. For the same reason, the attachment is only held in 4 main directions around the attachment area. (I reported the issue to Innocn and asked them to replace the bracket and will update this review with their response.) Absolutely flawless screen. Out of the box, the colors are accurate even when the brightness is lower. Glory to Innocnu! The game's response times appear to be excellent. The power consumption is reasonable. The speakers are forgetful, tinny and quiet. Oh well. This works great on a Steam Deck connected with a single USB-C cable. 1080p 60Hz and 40Hz both work. The screen's brightness is capped at 20% when not powered by a secondary source - 20% is fine indoors so isn't a problem. The screen draws about 3 extra watts from your Steam deck unless you plug it in separately, so battery life will be reduced accordingly. You will get a "Slow Charger" warning. A side note is that some combinations of screen content and brightness will cause coil whistling or PWM resonance of some sort. (I assume that's what the reviewer complained about "noisy fan" - it doesn't have a fan). Increasing or decreasing the brightness by a few divisions solves the problem. I want Innocn to sell the right size tempered glass or screen protector. I used a 15.6 inch screen protector that fits the height perfectly and manually cropped the extra few inches of width around the edge. It's such a great portable screen that I don't want to scratch it. Things I would like to improve for the hypothetical version 2 of this screen: - Full USB PD complaint with proper pass-through charging, not as it is but not quite pass-through as it is now - Full brightness range from a single USB C connection if the connected device can draw current - Assuming my problem with the upside down magnet is a one off accident, more mounting options would be nice. Built-in VRR speakers (freesync/gsync) and a refresh rate of 120+Hz would also be nice
