I was looking for a replacement for my Sansa e250. It's not that it doesn't work anymore. It's just that SanDisk released the e250 14 years ago, well before Bluetooth became mainstream. In any case, my spare MP3 player had to have Bluetooth. When searching for top rated players in a reasonable price range, I kept seeing Berennis devices on the list. They were often in the top three or five of the top players and were often ranked above the more expensive players. That got my attention. When I finally evaluated the price of one of the A30 devices, I couldn't believe it was in the $30 range. Perfect for what I was looking for. I took the risk and ordered the Berennis A30. Shortly after I placed my order, Revain's intelligent spying algorithm gave out a link with an offer for the A08 device. I took a quick look at the specs. canceled the A30 order and placed an order for the D08. Since receiving the player I've had no problem pairing it with an Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo True Wireless headphones, some Soundcore Spirit X Sports headphones and a portable OontZ Angle 3 PLUS. Bluetooth speaker. However, for some reason every time I turn on the D08 I have to go through the menu and turn on Bluetooth. I hope it's something I set up wrong because it's a bit annoying to do every time. You would think that with a Bluetooth MP3 player, Bluetooth would be ready and available every time you turn on the player. In my case this is not the case. At the moment this seems to be the biggest problem I've had with this player. For the people who choose not to be Bill Gates' slaves, I had a little problem getting music from my Ubuntu Linux laptop onto the player. lsblk showed the mounted MP3 player as /dev/sdb but didn't mount it automatically. I tried building my own mount and it worked, but I didn't want to do it every time. I thought about just relying on removable media for file transfers, but in the end I took a chance and went through the D08 menu system and reformatted the MP3 player's internal storage. Before reformatting, I added the mounted media to a backup file in case something went wrong. For some reason, reformatting solved the problem. The next time I plugged it in, it installed the media correctly. So far I've been impressed with this little player. The sound quality is very good, the Bluetooth range is incredible, and navigating the controls is easy to learn and pretty quickly intuitive. All in all I don't think there is a better MP3 player for the money.
