Review on APDTY 028357 Rear Left Driver Side Intake Variable Valve πŸ”§ Timing Solenoid VVT for 2005-2012 Subaru B9 Tribeca/Forester/Impreza/Legacy/Outback (Replaces 10921-AA040, 10921AA040) by Ryan Foles

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The VVT solenoid came in a pack of two.

The VVT solenoid was split in two when I opened the box. I tried to connect the two pieces together but they wouldn't hold up and they came loose. I installed it on a 2007 Subaru Forester 2.5X on the passenger side and when I started the engine nearly 3/4 quart of oil leaked from the VVT solenoid valve before I shut the engine off. I put the old solenoid valve back in and nothing leaked. I don't know if the magnet was defective or if it was damaged in transit. It looks like there isn't enough lip to go through the valve to hold it in place. I missed the Revain return date and didn't install the VVT solenoid immediately after delivery because I read that an oil change would clear the check. engine light. I had a new oil change and the Check Engine light went out, so I decided to leave the VVT solenoid on until I needed it. Yesterday the Check Engine light came on again and only approx. 500 miles after an oil change I decided the driver's side VVT had finally failed. The price was very good compared to other manufacturers, but the quality can't be the same.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Some minor things
