Review on 🚽 Clear Flush Valve Seal Kit for American Standard 7301111-0070A by James White

Gasket is not blue, now becomes transparent

Videos on the American Standard web show how to easily loosen a thumbscrew. Not this case. There are small protrusions on top of the green dome that need to be unscrewed tightly. After completion, it is easy to disassemble. All instructions followed and the toilet is still a "ghost flush". The last instruction says to tighten until you feel a "lock". Which consumer will know what that means? I guess those little grooves. Dismantled again, discarded, still "spooky flush”. Try calling American Standard and you'll be waiting forever. I hope to get the gasket directly from American Standard. I understand that because of the 10 year warranty on the Champion 4 toilet, with proper documentation, you can get it for free. I also hope for tips on installation. More details will follow if I ever speak to American Standard. TO UPDATE. Spoke to American Standard. It was recommended that the water be turned off and the water level monitored to determine if the leak was in the small brick-colored O-ring on the thumbscrew, or in the clear (previously blue) large seal, or possibly deeper in the flusher. Mine was on a clear pad. During the third disassembly, I noticed small holes at the bottom of the green dome and 4 small columns at the bottom, matching the location. The holes in the top MUST line up with the bottom block. While tightening the thumbscrew, press the bottom piece firmly against the top green dome (your new gasket will be between these two pieces). Keep turning the thumbscrew until it "jumps" over those little ridges on top of the dome (that's the "latch" the instructions say). My "ghost flush" has stopped. I miss the old flapper you take off and put the new one on. What a nonsense. But the problem is finally solved.
