I originally bought this for my own closet but misjudged the height and didn't bother to use a tape measure. We ended up putting it on the doorstep and it has enough space for all of us to comfortably fit four pairs of shoes on it. It turned out to be a blessing! In case you need a picture, my roommate is about 5ft 3" tall and the top handle comes down to her low waist. It's sturdy enough that my 13 lb cat would happily use the bottom shelf as a hammock (it hangs). slightly off the ground) and it doesn't warp fabric or bend metal, but it does wobble a little just because of the construction, so be careful not to handle it roughly for any reason.
