Mist falls down and makes surface damp

I have asthma and breathing problems in the winter when the air is cold and dry and I have to turn my bedroom humidifier on full blast at night. Performance is good, but if I don't have a fan (which I don't really need in winter) the mist just falls down and makes any surface very wet for an hour. I would like it to be set up so that the mist disperses better in the room at higher settings without a fan. Also, the product description led me to believe that the tank would be larger than it really is. Barely lasts all night on medium settings.
