I bought these for a less bulky form of compression to wear to work to relieve lipedema pain. Lipedema is a little-known loose tissue disorder that affects at least 11% of women in the United States. If your upper body has always been smaller than your lower body, if your legs seem to grow out of proportion to your upper body, if one day you fit into your clothes and the next day everything seems too small, you could have lipedema. If you have "canclair" or "bole" legs and excessive "cellulite" or feel like you weigh a lot more on the scale than your eating habits allow, please do a little research on the topic Lipoedema/lipoedema/lipo-lymphedema. Maybe you've always thought that you tended to be overweight, maybe you go to the doctor for leg pain or other ailments, but always come with the advice "lose weight and do more exercise". Please note that you may have lipedema. The resulting swelling and fatty tissue does NOT respond to diet and exercise! Most general practitioners, gynaecologists, endocrinologists, etc. do not know about this disease that causes so much suffering to those affected. The research is still early days, but that doesn't mean the pain and suffering of so many women is imaginary. The unexplored is not the same as the imaginary! If you know your legs/arms/body hurts, you're overtired and gaining weight out of proportion to the amount of calories and exercise you're getting. Please request information and support. Let's get back to clothing. They are great for everyday wear. They are less visible under clothing than other types of compression stockings. They are cheaper than custom commissions. They are lightweight but sturdy and easy to put on. As a woman with lipoedema, it is not just the legs and torso that are affected. As I got older (50 years old) I developed edema, painful connective tissue and adipose tissue lipedema on my arms and upper chest. The level of compression they offer makes it easier to feel empty in the legs, but the metal pads used to adjust the length of the straps, which go over the shoulders, hit the armpits uncomfortably and make that worse affected tissues in that area. At first I didn't notice any discomfort, but after several hours of work I realized these marks on the straps were digging into my flesh. When I got home the first day these spots were blue and itchy. They weren't really squashed, but the discomfort of wearing them for 8 hours stayed with me even after I took them off and put on my Bioflect. That's the only problem I can identify with this clothing. I really love these clothes and was so excited to find something that I feel comfortable in and still blend in at work. summer in the south. They were cooler and helped me feel and look less obtrusive. However, I will not be buying another set until Marena has moved these metal pieces to a more appropriate location. They can be placed on the shoulder or back where the same type of metal hardware fits in a regular bra strap. I recommend Marena to make the metal piece narrower, adjust the straps a bit closer to the torso and make the adjustable straps much, much, much longer. This translates into a much more personalized and comfortable way of wearing braces, and therefore the benefits and quality of this garment.
