Ok, so it's not denim. It's kind of the same thickness and material as dress pants but with a little extra stretch. It also doesn't compress or shape the body in any way.if you have bulges, they aren't going anywhere with these. Like others have mentioned the front part doesn't smoosh down the stomach but again, these aren't compression pants. I live in leggings but can't wear them at my job, I wanted something as comfortable as leggings but that would pass our dress code. These are it. I wouldn't tuck in a shirt but a loose shirt that covers the butt makes these super flattering. They're tight enough to give a leggings look and feel to any outfit but they're work appropriate. I'm 4'11' so i give them two small rolls at the bottom for a cropped look. They're slimming on the legs like my leggings are. I got the small, I'm about 118-120 lbs, the fit is perfect. I could gain a little and lose a little and they'd still be just fine. If you have a big butt, the waistband doesn't have a lot of extra stretch in it so keep that i mind, and they're pull on. But again, not a ton of stretch so if you have to really squeeze into them I could see seems popping. I wear my leggings skin tight, I'm a tad bit thick for my height so I like tighter leggings that don't add any extra weight to my legs, these do that even though they're not leggings. I easily wear XS in leggings here on amazon.and they're tight. I wouldn't do an XS in these if it was offered. If your inner thighs rub together, these pants won't help with holding in that area and smoothing things over, so don't get them if you're hoping for them to hold you in. I'm very happy with these though. I'll be getting more for work and they'd be cute with a long top and heels too outside work. If you want compression, maybe add a compression tight under these, I do that in chilly weather anyways. These pants are the babies from a leggings mom and work slacks dad. Hope that helps.
