Review on Laptop Cooling Pad and Gaming Laptop Cooler Stand by Michael Tegan

This thing is just awesome IMHO the kind of thing if I somehow lost it I would order the same thing to replace here and now. I'm using this on an old ThinkPad T520 that originally came with an IvyBridge i5, which I flashed with a modified Coreboot-like BIOS update given to me by a friend who said they did it, or at least had something to do with it (works great, includes lots of features and previously unavailable upgrade paths, removes all whitelists, killer all around) and includes support for Sandybridge processors, and then installs the worst Sandybridge socket i7 mobile processor I could find. 55W TDP processor, when the laptop was equipped with a cooler designed for a 25W TDP processor, and the most powerful replacement cooler that could be replaced was a 45W i7-T520, which was equipped with an nVidia graphics chip (this cooling pad is currently vacant). Along with all that, the boot volume is a Samsung mSATA SSD which is super fast, a couple of 2TB spinning drives (I keep an optical drive in my bag but never use it), an AX200 wifi6/bt5 and all other fastest/best timings/largest DIMM pair that the machine can support. If I remember correctly, Coreboot includes support for pairs of 16GB sticks instead of 8GB and support for 1866 MT/s RAM, not just 1600 MT/s; if so, i put it there. These old ThinkPads can be pretty decent even at their age, I've had a few but needless to say this one works HOT. The 90W PSU can't always handle that, so I had to upgrade to 130. In most cases, a 45W TDP cooler will suffice, but I live in Phoenix, Arizona, so it has to endure warmer temperatures for most of the year. Sometimes it just can't. No more problems with this thing, it keeps the temperature below 50°C no matter what I do. This is a significant improvement over previous conditions where CPU and SSD temperatures often reached the 80s. It just doesn't happen anymore, everything stays pleasantly cool. I *love* that I can tilt this thing too. I could do without lights, but I don't care. The fans are very difficult to hear even when fully on, but I think I'm more used to the fan noise and more comfortable with it than the hiss. I've been running servers in my bedroom since I was 12, more than 20 years ago. Thanks to whoever made this thing, the previously considered implausible laptop upgrade works flawlessly. It's hard to believe this thing works or how well it works. I now prefer it to some of my newer multi-generation Dell laptops. I seem to have forgotten to mention the 34mm PCMCIA USB3 upgrade or about 30TB USB drives connected to it (e.g. 100W USB3 hub power) haha. It serves about a third of my entire PLEX archive. Everything becomes possible thanks to the buoyancy and light wind that this little thing offers.
