Works but very difficult to clean

As a coffee maker, this French Press works very well. It filters soil fairly well and should last for many years with proper care. It has a clean and modern design and looks classy. The biggest problem with this is that it is difficult to clean. The grid is sandwiched between a flat metal disk and a piece of wire wound in a spiral. This assembly must be disassembled for proper cleaning, otherwise coffee grounds and debris will remain between each of the 3 elements. Worst of all, there is no easy way to clean the surface of the helical component. It's almost impossible to get into the cracks with a dishwashing sponge. However, the dishwasher will cope with this task after several wash cycles. Otherwise you will have to soak it in hot soapy water for several hours. Of course I can do all this, but is it worth doing it every day? Interestingly, almost every French press uses the exact same grid retaining design in place. This is obviously a very old design and was created because it was easy and cheap to make. As with many other products, companies choose designs because they are cheap to manufacture, but customers who use these products ultimately have to deal with them. I am currently looking for a better french press.
